Girls -- Please have a sense of humor!
I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.
FOR EXAMPLE:
One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, 'I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me.'
I said, 'WHAT??!! What was that?!'
So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear...
'You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.'
She responded to my puzzled look by saying, 'Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?'
Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, 'Lets get a pair for each outfit.'
We went on to the jewelry department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis.
I think I threw her for a loop when I said, 'That's fine, honey.' She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, 'I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier.'
I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, 'No honey, I don't feel like it.'
Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, 'WHAT?'
I then said, 'Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.'
And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, 'Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?'
Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either... but at least that bitch knows I'm smarter than her.
Alright Ladies. Forward this if you agree. Hell even if you disagree, forward it anyway.
Men, forward this if you have BALLS !!!!

"I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much."
what do you mean? cause i think that's bullshit :)
"And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing."
so you can't see the differences between men and women?not that many, really. it's the same thing with differences between two men. or two humans, regardless of their sex.
"I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart."
that's another universal knowledge aka bullshit. maybe if you squeeze in the world "generally"...
Oops...

My bad.
but still your opinion would be interesting :)
Mmmright.
Was afraid you'd say that :D.
Let's see...
1. Sexual urges generally differ not only between men and women, but are different between specimens of the same sex as well.
Well, both men and women have the sexual urge related to reproduction, as a basic need, and this would probably "equal" or "equivalent" for the sexes.
On top of this basic need, I would say there is a more or less common individual need (ok, by definition individuality means less common to others). This individual need comes probably from social environment.
At the top of this "pyramid of needs", comes a part that most definitely differs in terms of education, culture, religion, financial means, all of these acting as possible constraints, either inhibitors or catalysts in satisfying one's sexual urge.
Compiling all these factors that I've mentioned (others might appear, I'm not going to perform a study or read about a study on this), you can get different sexual urges not only from men to women, but, as I've said, from individual to individual.
Now, it is generally accepted that most men have a certain degree of sexual urge, different from a woman's, probably because of the fact that women are able to feel a lot more emotions than men. I think I've read somewhere that men usually use their analytical part of the brain (not gonna search now on google, but I think it's the left side, there are 50% chances that I might be wrong), while women usually use the other part of the brain, which "handles" emotion-related aspects: creativity, artistic feels, and so on.
2. Except for the male/female anatomical structure, I'm not sure what was in the author's mind. Probably same as above. I would mention, nonetheless, Venus, as a planet has the symbol of womanhood (a circle with an "anchor"), while Mars was given the symbol of manhood (a circle with a direction arrow - mobility). But that's probably why people say Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars. In ancient Roman/Greek Mythology, Venus/Aphrodyte was the Symbol of Womanhood (not just the most beautiful woman/goddes), the archtype of the Female (beautiful, kind(!?), gentle, caring, nurturous), while Mars/Ares was the archtype of manhood, characterized at that time as being the perfect warrior.
3. Just as I said before, it is generally accepted that men tend to be more analytical than women, while women are much more emotive then men. There are also exceptions, of course.
I don't think this is bullshit. Of course, making use of "generally".
One thing that makes quite a big difference between men and women is the fact that, given the same stimulus, the male brain and the female brain do not show activity in the same brain areas. Nor the same intensity of response. And that is a fact.
the thing that probably annoys me the most is that people are generally "labeled" considering their gender. i've met a whole lotta men much more sentimental and a women more analytical than the average. i think they are too many to be called exceptions. plus i consider all those guidelines and books about men vs women just plain stupid. people are much more complex than that.
well... i just woke up and probably can't make much sense at this time of day :)
Well, you might be right...
But then, if you are yourself one of the few who actually meet these "exceptions", what can I say? I repeat, I'm not going to study such occurences from a statistical point of view, I am more individual-centered.
On the other hand, indeed, gender is the most commonly used criteria for this "labelling" as you call it. Probably because it's the most obvious.
But the thing is, there are a lot of differences between man and woman, and my opinion is that these differences are good and welcome. Otherwise, we wouldn't be more than blunt amoebae crawling around...
And this gives us even more criteria to "separate" genders, or even individuals. After all, the Zodiac is such a criterion. :)
Regarding "books" and such, I agree. Plainly because all are written from a statistical point of view and this rules out individuality.
You can see a bit more of comments on this issue in the "Of books and books" post.
Nevertheless, why am I not surprised you're a Scorpio?
how come?
astrological signs - another stupid convention to label people :))
How come what?
It's only stupid to actually apply general features to individuals, not taking into consideration a great deal of other factors.
Well, don't get me wrong, I don't believe in the Zodiac as in checking everyday the predictions, but, as far as I've noticed, most of the general features apply so well to individuals...
But I do believe you can get to know someone (get quite a good picture of someone) by the sign of the Zodiac...
you should write a blog about that then :)
i was saying how come it figures i'm a scorpio
Write a blog about what? about getting to know someone by their astrological sign? Not gonna do that...
It's already been done. And it's called... guess what... the horoscope... (served daily) :D
I didn't say "figure", I said I'm not surprised. It is a difference :)
it figures means not beeing surprised about a thing, something logical, natural etc
damn you like to pick on details :))))
"it figures" seems to me related to something that comes natural, but only after giving additional information:
"how come you hate cats so much?"
"i was really badly scratched by one when i was little"
"it figures, then..."
Meaning: I'm surprised you don't like cats and I don't have any information regarding this fact, no suppositions, no "possible causes".
On the other hand, "not surprised" would be something like:
"I'm not surprised you hate cats, I saw the recent scratches on your hands, and I know someone that was just as unfortunate as you..."
More examples:
"Why have you started drinking?"
"My wife left me..."
"Figures..."
"Why have you started drinking?"
"My wife left me..."
"I'm not surprised, same thing happened to XXXX, and XXXX also started drinking"
In a nutshell, for me "figures" means something natural that comes after a moment of surprise, while "it's no surprise" well, there is no moment of surprise... :D
I don't know if I was explicit enough with these explanations, but I hope you understand the nuances that I see when I use these expressions.
And YES, I do like picking on details. Because they make the big picture.
:)
